UNESCO
L'ALU (association for the application of Lavaux at the UNESCO World Heritage Site) was created in March 2005 to present the candidacy for the World Heritage Site.
On 21 December 2005, the region submitted its application to be included on the UNESCO World Heritage list in Paris, under the category of "Cultural Landscapes".
Further to the positive notice from the ICOMOS International (International Council on Monuments and Sites), sent on 14 May 2007 to the Federal Office for Culture, the World Heritage Committee accepted Lavaux’s registration as part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, during its 31st session held in Christchurch (New Zealand) on 28 June 2007.
