Swiss Camera Museum
The Swiss Camera Museum in Vevey exhibits cameras and photographs from their day of invention until today. The museum is located in a historic building in Place du Marché.
Opened in 1979 in Place du Marché in Vevey, the Swiss Camera Museum expanded in 2001. The radical technical changes in the field of photography brought about a swift growth incoporating these new technologies.
The museum exhibits objects ranging from camerae obscurae and other magic lanterns to digital cameras. It also shows photos (namely the first pictures taken) and tells the story of some of the inventors who left their imprint on photography.
Thanks to its influence, the museum’s collection is expanding from year to year. The public can thus discover the collection of Gerard Honegger: projection instruments, beautifully painted plates and a series of photographic plates.
All year round, temporary exhibitions complete the permanent collection. There are also games, texts and specific installations for the young public.
